EDIH Applied Cyber Physical Systems for manufacturing, construction and automotive sectors

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) werden die 4. Industrielle Revolution dominieren, in der softwaredefinierte Systeme und 24/7-Verfügbarkeit Schlüsselfunktionen darstellen. Die abzudeckende technologische Bandbreite und die Komplexität bei der Entwicklung und Integration von CPS ist jedoch herausfordernd und stellt eine Hürde für Start-ups, KMUs und Midcap-Unternehmen dar,was KMUs daran hindert, sich der laufenden CPS-Revolution anzuschließen.. Der in der südöstlichen Region Österreichs gegründete Europäische Digitale Innovations Hub (EDIH) Applied-CPS-hat sich zum Ziel genommen diese Situation zu ändern und als zentrale Anlaufstelle für KMUs in Bezug auf die Entwicklung und den Betrieb von CPS zu fungieren. Die Partner des EDIH versuchen die wesentlichen Hemmnisse in Bezug auf eine CPS Integration schwerpunktmäßig für die Sektoren Bauwesen, Fertigung und Mobilität zu identifizieren.

Dabei wird auf bisher einzigartige Weise versucht eine vertikale und horizontale Integration außerhalb typischerweise getrennter technischer und wirtschaftlicher Dimensionen umzusetzen.

Die Schwerpunktbereiche sind dabei:

• Sensoren und eingebettete Systeme
• Smart System Integration
• Digital Twinning und Datennutzung und
• Blockchain und Distributed-Ledger-Technologie.

Applied-CPS EDIH planteine Reihe von 275 maßgeschneiderten Diensten auf der Grundlage einer abgestuften KMU-Digitalisierungsstrategie anzubieten:

• Onboarding von KMUs
• Unterstützung von KMUs und
• Nachhaltig Aufbau des EDIH-Ökosystems – Maximierung der Digitalisierungsreife und der digitalen Fähigkeiten.

Gemäß den identifizierten regionalen Bedürfnissen und verfügbaren Kompetenzen ist der vorgeschlagene Hub kohärent mit Strategien für intelligente Spezialisierung und im Einklang mit europäischen Initiativen wie z.B. der Europäischen Datenstrategie.

Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) will dominate the 4th Industrial Revolution, in which software-defined systems and 24/7 availability are key features. However, the technological breadth to be covered and the complexity of developing and integrating CPS is challenging and presents a hurdle for startups, SMBs and mid-caps, preventing SMBs from joining the ongoing CPS revolution The European Digital Innovations Hub (EDIH) Applied-CPS, founded in the southeastern region of Austria, aims to change this situation and to act as a central point for SMEs with regard to the development and operation of CPS. The partners of the EDIH try to identify the main obstacles in relation to a CPS integration with a focus on the construction, manufacturing and mobility sectors.

In doing so, an attempt is made to implement vertical and horizontal integration outside of typically separate technical and economic dimensions in a unique way.

The focus areas are:

• sensors and embedded systems,
• smart system integration
• digital twinning and data use and
• Blockchain and Distributed Ledger Technology.

Applied-CPS EDIH plans to offer a suite of 275 tailored services based on a tiered SME digitization strategy:

• Onboarding SMEs
• Supporting SMEs, and
• Sustainable building of the EDIH ecosystem – maximizing digitization readiness and digital Skills.

According to the identified regional needs and available competencies, the proposed hub is coherent with smart specialization strategies and in line with European initiatives such as the European Data Strategy.
