REAct - Renewable Energy & Efficiency Action

Since 2013 Burgenland is self-sufficient in terms of electrical energy and works on realizing complete independence in terms of all required energies. This requires drawing up concepts for energy provision such as liquefaction of bio mass or waste.

The project REAct, funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the state Burgenland aims at contributing to the use of regionally available renewables (energy and building materials), to energy efficiency in buildings (new structures and renovation) and to training planners, builders and users in cooperation with its Slovakian partners.

Project goals

  • Develop solutions for erecting new structures respecting low energy building standards. Develop practical solutions that can be used in building low energy structures while optimizing the use of regional resources.

  • Examine energy efficiency increasing measures in existing structures.

  • Draw up a manual for building renovation that follows low energy building Standards.

  • Develop a training concept and a pilot project that trains energy consultants for building and renovation.
